| Who are the coaches? |
Just as in any most other recreational sport, the parents are the coaches. You may ask yourself, "How can I coach a team when I don't know how to?" If you have a love of children and a desire to get involved in their lives, you have the beginning qualities of becoming a good coach. CSSC will provide beginning training in the skills of soccer to anyone wishing to become a coach. If you are interested in coaching note it on your volunteer form at registration. Training modules for coaches are held at the start of the soccer season. Please visit the other links on our website for details.
Keep in mind that CSSC can only form as many teams as we have coaches. It is our desire to have every child who wants to play soccer to be placed on a team. So please help us volunteer to coach so we can be sure not to turn away players. If you have any questions regarding coaching, please contact us. |
| KidSafe and why is it required? |
The CSSC supports and endorses STYSA's "KidSafe" Program as a means to further safeguard the health and wellbeing of the CSSC players. The CSSC requires that all Board members, team coaches and assistant coaches who work closely with players during practices, games and/or other CSSC sponsored events must obtain a KidSafe badge through STYSA.
The CSSC requires that all adults required to obtain a KidSafe badge must wear the badge during all practices, games and other CSSC sponsored events. This requirement does not include post-season parties or other team-only social events. |
| What about practice? |
Each official team is allowed a limit of four practices preceding the first game. Only players fully registered with the CSSC are allowed to practice with your team. After the first game, the following rules apply:
|
Age Division | Practices Per Week | Practice Duration |
| U-5 | 1 | 45 minutes |
| U-6 | 1 | 45 minutes |
| U-7 | 2 | One hour |
| U-8 | 2 | One hour |
| U-9 | 2 | One hour |
| U-10 | 2 | One hour |
| U-11 and up | 2 | One and a half hours |
|
| What if I have a problem or concern with a Coach or Assistant Coach? |
The College Station Soccer Club takes problems and concerns very seriously and requests that if you have a problem with a coach or assistant coach you have two options. First contact your assigned division coordinator to see if the problem can be solved at that level. Second you can email the executive board through the comments link on the website. It is very important that if you have a concern you voice it immediately and not three months after the incident occurs.
