The CSSC is a 501-C3, not-for-profit organization operated by volunteers from the community. CSSC is managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors. Without the efforts of these volunteers, the club could not function and provide the great soccer experience for our kids. We provide opportunity for all area youth in the Brazos Valley and surrounding counties that wish to learn and play soccer. CSSC is the local affiliate of USYSA, STYSA and BVYSA.
Board Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at the Teen Exit Center on Rock Prairie Road at 7:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public. If you have an issue that you would like placed on the monthly agenda, please email Billy Hart at president@cssoccer.com
Mission
Our goal as a youth soccer club is to nurture children and young adults in their development both as athletes and as people. We emphasize a fun atmosphere combined with learning the game of soccer. The mission of CSSC is to teach good sportsmanship and the game of soccer in order to develop physical fitness, mental alertness and leadership. The principles of maximum participation (recognition that the manner of play outweighs a victory, encouragement of courtesy, good conduct and respect for constituted authority) will govern competition.
Vision
We help our soccer players grow and mature by giving them opportunities to learn new skills and meet new challenges. Successes are praised while mistakes are corrected with discretion, patience and a positive attitude. Every youngster, regardless of skill level, is valued as a person and is readily accepted as a contributing member of the team. We conduct our practices and our games to show respect for both the needs of the individual and the needs of the team.
Position on Competition
Challenge and competition are a natural part of soccer and of life. Indeed, competition is part of what makes soccer fun. However, an excessive desire to win can take the fun out of the game. Winning should never be more important than fair play. Since our mission is to teach the values that children will need to succeed as adults, we will avoid any practice that teaches winning at the expense of fair play.
Engaging in competition teaches young people to increase their effort and focus. Engaging in healthy competition teaches people to increase their effort and focus without resorting to foul play. Parents and coaches alike must be personally committed, both by word and in action, to teaching our youngsters the values that will enable them to become winners in life.
